Day 55 – Finishing Breaking Bad

(Barnaby’s post) This morning Brooke and I decided to treat ourselves to breakfast out of the house, although this came at a cost…. an 8km cost…. There is a restaurant called the Griddle Cafe on sunset boulevard that we have driven past many times, and it usually has a fairly decent cue outside the front in the mornings, we decided to go there. It was a 4km walk there and 4km walk  back (which hopefully burnt off the food we had). We both ordered the waffle with strawberries. The waffle was the size of the plate, and was covered with a sour creme/sugar mixture then covered with strawberries. It was super tasty, but neither of us finished it!

I don’t think Brooke mentioned this, but we got back into our gym routine (which had been on hold for two weeks) three days ago, which means at least an hour of exercise each day. This doesn’t exactly justify having a breakfast like this, but it at least gives us a bit of an excuse. It was also nice to treat ourselves to a meal out!

We spent a couple of hours this afternoon talking to Bob (Brooke’s step granddad) about his time in the war. For those of you who don’t know, I am very interested in the second world war, and so it was fascinating hearing how he was involved, and the many stories he had from that time. It was nice to spend some time with him, he has such an interesting background.

I went for a brief swim this afternoon (Brooke just lay in the sun), and then we spent the evening finishing off Breaking Bad!!! I won’t give any spoilers, but I will just say that I felt content by the end. We had a break two episodes from the end (which was well needed), and cooked ourselves a decent steak  for dinner, then came back to a very thrilling but satisfying ending! We have really enjoyed the series and would recommend it to anyone who hasn’t seen it yet (providing you are into that kind of thing) but at the same time are sad that it’s over, and we both wonder what we will do with our time now (perhaps something a bit more constructive!)
